Tips for a Closer Shave
1. Cleanse your face before shaving. This simple step lifts each individual hair for a closer and more even shave while removing buildup that can cause ingrown hairs and irritation.
2. Never dry shave. Dry shaving increases the risk of cuts and irritation.
3. Use cooler water. Your skin may become too soft and be more prone to nicks and cuts if it’s in hot water too long.
4. Use shave gel instead of soap. Many men think soap and water provide a great lubricant for helping razors glide along the skin, but soap has an astringent effect, leading to tight, flaky skin after drying.
5. Pay attention to the direction of hair growth. For the closest shave, shave against the way the hair grows (using an upward motion on your face). However, if you have sensitive skin, it’s safer to shave in a downward direction to protect from razor burns and ingrown hairs. Shaving with the grain minimises skin irritation issues.
